3. GENERAL ARRANGEMENTS

3.1 The staff tree shows the hierarchy of responsibility to ensure compliance with this Health and Safety Policy.


3.2 Good Housekeeping

 

 Health & Safety Links

Good housekeeping is essential to a safe working environment. It is the responsibility of all employees to ensure that all jobs are cleared on completion of work and that no job is left either completed or partially completed with any danger to other persons.

3.3 Emergency Procedures

The Plan consists of Risk Assessments for The General Office, The Showroom The Conference Room and the Warehouse with appropriate Emergency exit routes and Muster Points noted. All staff are required to become familiar with this document. Fire Risk Assessment is carried out by The Safety Officer, in conjunction with consultants and or North Wales Fire Service. Checks are made every six months.

When working at other sites, all staff are required to become familiar with the site control plan with regard to fire, first aid and other emergency procedures prior to the commencement of work on the site.

3.4 General Health and Accidents

From 1st January 2004 an accident must be reported to the Safety Officer who will investigate and analyse the accident as appropriate; the Accident Book BI 510 must be completed by the individual concerned, or by a representative on his behalf. Records are kept by the Safety Officer who will report under RIDDOR as required. The Safety Officer is responsible for Health Surveillance and records, and First Aid facilities.

3.5 Safety Rules

All staff are required to familiarise themselves with safety rules as applied to all site work.

IF IN ANY DOUBT SEEK ADVICE FROM AUTHORISED PERSONNEL.

3.6 Safety Representative

Consultation currently is directly between management and employees via the Safety Officer.

3.7 Protective clothing and equipment

The policy is to provide the appropriate protective equipment for safely carrying out work. Requirements will be specified in all job instructions and all employees are obliged to use the equipment provided. Supervisors and the employee are responsible to ensure PPE is identified and used at all times.

3.8 Training

Training is given to all employees by the Supervisors on safe methods of working as appertaining to their duties carried out, in accordance with the requirements of the Company’s Quality Management System ISO 9001:2000, under the Resource Management Review Process and in line with the company’s Investor In People Status. Reviews of operating practice and methods will be carried out and where necessary revised by experience gained, and up to date information. Communication with staff will take place and consultation with specialists be made where required. Specialist training is identified and completed as per job requirements according to the contracts agreed.

3.9 Customers and Contractors

As appropriate safety requirements will be included in all tender documents and will be discussed at a safety liaison meeting before work starts.

3.10 Visitors

It is the responsibility of the company employee to ensure that all site safety procedures are observed.

3.11 Maintenance of and purchase of Plant and Equipment

Procedures and responsibilities are incorporated into the Company’s Quality Manual. Clwyd Refrigeration Limited is a company registered with BSI, UKAS Accredited, for ISO 9001:2000.
