There have been some developments within the industry which we would like to inform you of:
The regulations are part of the EU efforts to reduce Climate Change. F gases such as R134a and R404a have a high Global Warming Potential which causes a high concentration of greenhouse gas levels in the environment.
The aim of the regulations is to reduce emissions of F gases. If the regulations fail to achieve this then we are likely to see future restrictions of the use of F gases. The Regulations became Law on 4th July 2006 with the majority of the sections coming into force on 4th July 2007.
We have found that more and more companies are being asked for their F-Gas documentation by standards agencies such as BSI when carrying out audits.
There is a general requirement to identify and repair leaks on a system, and also check within one month that a repair has been successful.
